Upcycling! Trash to Oh La La.

a Canvas Corp Brands CREW project

Recently I placed an order for some spices online and when it arrived it came in this bright, shiny, yellow box.  I think I was more excited over the box than what was in it.  From the first moment I knew I was going to have to alter that box into something fun and useable.

I know, I know, I throw you that great tease and then what do I do just give you this little snippet of a photo.  But you can already see the fantastic effet the High Impact Aqua paint made over the shiny yellow of the original box!  Pretty cool huh?  I'd love for you to pop on over to the Canvas Corp Brands Blog and take a look at the complete project.

Not only is there the transformed box but also the cutest little mini tucked neatly inside.  You're going to love how I've used the Architextures Collection to make this mini!

As always I've added a video to the mix, a complete walk through of the box and mini.  But wait!  This time I'm sharing a playlist of three videos, two are process videos, how to alter the box and how to make the mini so if you'd like to replicate my idea with any box you have lying around this will give you great food for thought.  The entire Playlist can be found here Upcycled Box & Mini Playlist

Please check out the complete blog post - Upcycled Box and MIni Book using Architextures Collection   over on the Canvas Corp Brands Blog.

Upcycling Paper Cores

I had the best time upcycling these thick heavy cardboard cores my niece brought me.  She works for a grocery store and they get these daily.  They were tossing them until they discovered we might be able to do something crafty with them.  I've wanted something to house my markers in so thought this would be a good project to use them with.

As always you can check out the complete blog post over on the Canvas Corp Blog and my how to step by step video below.

Masculine Card Set

I had gotten some packaging material (the corragated paper
shown in the photo below) and as I started to toss it out
I thought how nice it would be in some cards, really good weight
that neat grungy look.

So I hunted through my remants of papers and pulled out anything
that had that male feel about it, I really wanted masculine cards
for my stash is sorely lacking in masculine cards.

Everything is odds and ends that I just pulled and used
but I like the effects and how the cards turned out.

If you see something you'd like to know more about,
which punch; which paper line; which stamp
send me a note and I'll do my best to figure out what I used.

The ticket about was cut on my Cricut, I cut them all white
that way they can be colored or grunged up to match
whatever project I want to use them with.

I did some fussy cutting, like the pocket watch from my
odds and ends of paper, love how it looks here.

By adding one of the Tim Holtz spinners it gives the
card some real pazzase

Tear a few edges, ink the rest and what was pristine
now has that worn oldy look.

The typewriter key letters worked perfectly here
.

just a little Glossy Accents to make them pop

I wasn't happy with just this plain sheet of 6x6 by Tim Holtz
so I cut out the squares, cut them in half and then reaaranged
them into a new design.  I like this look better.

Mistakes are only known sometimes if you share them.
I almost tossed this stamped sentiment out because the
ink blotted over the 'THE' but the more I looked at
it the more I liked the look so no one really knows it's
not suppose to have this look except me (and of course
you too now, lol)

Really like the way the ADVENTURE stamped, I had to
go over it with my water brush to push the distress ink
a little and make it darker, it stamped light.
The magic of paper crafting, there always seems to be a fix
and when it's really horrible I can file it in the round file!

This is my favorite, loved this rub on and just like the look
of the Prima graffiti papers

And the simple sentiment speaks volumes!

This one is a little more 'pinky' so I guess I could roll it
over for a feminine type card if I wanted to.

Especially since I added some stickles to the inside.
I just had too, it was screaming 'Bling Me'.

LOVE LOVE LOVE my envelopes
I make a LOT of them!
I get recycled, outdated, wall paper books from my local
Sherman Williams store and then sit in front of the television
cutting the pages I think I could use into squares and tossing the rest
of the books away.

The result is a selection of sturdy envelopes that hold up
super well in the post.  If I'm clever enough, cough cough, I can
hide any of the print on the inside.  So who would know?
The only drawback is you must use a strong adhesive to get the envelope
to stick to itself.  I use my ATG gun tape or something like Scor-Tape

Here's a video I posted to YouTube showing the cards
and telling a little more about what's what.

Thanks for stopping by, hope I inspired you to save your garbage,
well not really, lol, but bits and pieces never hurt!
