I can hardly believe it's time to share a Christmas card, it seems like a few days ago we were just hanging decorations and getting into the Holiday spirit and here it is rolling again fast forward right at us. So if you're looking for some ideas for a few special people in your life then take a moment to consider adding Spellbinders Shapeabilities 3D Christmas Card dies to your collection.
These dies create a darling 3D effect tree for the front of your cards. You have two dies which when cut and slit pop one over the other. Attach the bottom one to your card and let the top one float free to create that 3D effect.
Check out my video and I'll show you the dies I've used and a wonderful stamp set from JustRight Stampers, Christmas Inner Thoughts, a perfect set of 11 Christmas sayings.
Hi everyone today I'm bring you something new for me. I love learning new techniques and making a new type of project and I've got a great combo of this for you.
To create my journal I got to play with Kerry-Jean Watson's newest creation 'The Sherlock Book' designed exclusively for Meg's Garden. The journal collection of papers can be purchased in print form or downloaded in digital. I've used the print edition here.
I've used not only the printed designer papers from the collection but also an assortment of cardstock that I have tea-dyed, stained, stenciled and inked to complement the printed pages. I backed each decorative page with my cardstock which gives a two-fold result, first it strengthens the pages and secondly it extends your designer papers.
You get a lovely selection of tuck ins, envelopes, tags etc with the collection, just cut, ink and glue to embellished your mini/journal.
At the beginning of this post I told you I was trying two new things, first was a printed journal and second was creating a binding with no glue! This is a stitched bound journal. I searched YouTube for some tutorials and was most fortunate to run across Sea Lemon's Long Stitch Binding Tutorial. I not only feel it was a find to run across the perfect binding tutorial but also to find a YouTube channel that's new to me and offers so much, I hope you'll check her out.
Please come join me on my video where I'll walk you through each page, give you a short glimpse of what I started with and inspire you with many more photos.
Today I'm sharing three cards I've made using Spellbinders Nestabilities Decorative Accents Labels Forty-One, Decorative Elements Labels Forty-One and Decorative Accents Labels Forty-Two.
Check out my video below to see how using different colored cardstock or interchanging the dies will completely change the look of your cards. I'll also show you how to cut the shaped card base as shown on the card on the left above besides sharing tips and more photos. For the complete blog post please check out the Cut at Home Blog.
Today I have a slightly different type of post for you. I'm sharing my suggestions for tools every cardmaker should have in their crafty tool chest. In the video below I'll run through all of the pictured tools above and share why I feel like you should have them in your crafty tool stash.
I'm hoping this will be an informative help to those of you that are just venturing into this wonderful hobby. And for those of you that have been around a while I hope you'll join me as well, you never know perhaps I'll have a suggestion of something you have yet to add to your crafty tool belt.
Stay tuned next month as I present the sequel to this video, Money Saving Tips, Tricks and Hints for the Cardmaker.
Hi everyone, well you can't tell me I didn't think outside the box on this one! At Easter time I was going home to visit my family for a month and left Paul on his own. We don't normally buy Easter baskets but I was feeling a little guilty leaving him for such a long period. I went to See's and had a basket filled and hid it in my Crafty Closet, what man in his right mind would open that door right???
Well Paul, having lived with my crafty obsession and watched it grow knew he'd best be holding on to the basket after the chocolate goodies disappeared. I looked at it long and hard and finally thought I know what I'll use this for, and thus my Pumped Up Basket was born!
Yep, you guessed it! My basket evolved into a holder for all my glue bottles, it sits right in front of me on my desk and it's used daily! I have a hard time just making for making's sake and most things I do make are gifts or they are are collecting themselves into a tidy bundle for when I open my Zibbet store. This time I thought it would be fun to use this gorgeous Prima Epiphany collection Bev sent me from the store for something for myself. Of course this probably won't be the project for all of you, but it might get you thinking about a certain box or basket that you've stuck back because you just couldn't part with it (and no I AM NOT A HOARDER, my name is PATTI and I'm a crafty addict!)
It's so nice to have something pretty, something I've altered, something I need and use sitting on my desk. This houses the glues I use all the time that were here there and everywhere now they have this beautiful new home to rest in.
I didn't use many things from my stash, most everything is from Bev's Etsy store, The Piece by Piece. On each end I did use a home made flower (the other end has a Prima flower centered in one of my flowers).
How could I not love using her gorgeous laces and trims and then have the joy of looking at them everytime I sit down at my crafty desk (which is often, let me tell you!). I used some of these Prima gems here and there, aren't they pretty and they just sparkle beautifully.
I love the Prima Epiphany collection, married together with some Lindy's Sprays and Bevs store items it was a match made in Heaven and the best part is, it's mine to keep and enjoy!
I hope you'll check out my video, I'll share the basket on all sides, a process video of different steps I took to create my Pumped Up Basket and a few more still photos.
Thanks everyone for stopping by, don't forget to become a follower while you're here!
About The Piece by Piece
The Piece by Piece is an art and craft supply store that initially started on Etsy, but has grown and now also exists as a brick & mortar establishment in the Niles district of Fremont, California. Beverly Ybarra, store owner sources her unique laces, trims and ribbons from all over the world, including France, one of her favorite supply sources. Some of Beverly's favorite local suppliers include Graphic 45 and Prima, so you are sure to find their products on the shelves at TPBP. For those close to TPBP store in Fremont, each week there is a full list of classes to choose from.
Today I'm sharing SaCrafters wooden Lock Box that I've altered with Prima's Devine papers, elements from Sa's store and a few items from my stash. This is the most darling little box that slides open on the top and allows you to hide a secret collection of goodies inside for the recipient.
The box has been painted with Martha Stewart Acrylic Wedding Note paint and then I tried, catch that word tried, to spray my Lindy's Starburst in Shabby Turbine Teal over the top. It just didn't want to nicely cover that acrylic paint. I was so disappointed and upset, I thought for sure this project was a goner. After stressing for over a day a friend said, 'Step Away'. I did just that, left it alone and tried not to think about it. When I came back sure enough it just came together, not how I had originally thought but perhaps even better!
I lightly sanded through the Lindy's and revealed more of the white, I loved the Shabby effect it gave, even leaving a little of the raw wood showing here and there. I added a cut out from the paper for the top trimming it with Sa's flat back pearls and covering it with a heavy coat of 3D Crystal Lacquer by Sakura. HINT: Do not touch it after applying the lacquer, set it aside and go watch tv or read a book for a few hours, just the voice of experience speaking!!
I added some of Sa's 9 row roses that I'd misted lightly with the Teal and a couple of Webster's flowers that were almost the same shade. The peachy flower in the middle is a snippet of a flower swag I'd bought on super super super clearance and salvaged all the good stuff off of it. I tucked one of my heart charms (thank you Kathie) under the flower.
To finish the front I glued the dyed flowers around the cut out frame and adhered the little girls from the paper to the middle, leaving some of the netting (which is the flower backing) show around the edges of the little girls. I then added a coat of the 3D Crystal Lacquer and set it aside overnite to dry. The next day I added the altered Bliss arrow from Sa's store and the little Believe charm and key that dangles (you can see it in the photo below on the left hand side under my thumb) - these were gifts from Bunny Bow - thank you Manuela!
I'm a horrible 'Just do it for the fun of it' type of person. I always need a purpose or a reason or a thought of whom I might give it to and what they'd use it for. That's why I created the little note cards for the inside. They are 5" x 2 1/2" strips cut from the paper and scored in the middle.
I made envelopes for probably a third of them even using my new scallop Corner Chomper. This was a fun project and will make a lovely gift for someone. I hope you'll take a look at my video, I'll share a lot of the assembly process as well as some more still photos. Please check out Sa's store and use my personal discount code for you PATTIFANS - that will get you a 5% discount on a $30 purchase.
