Here's an idea for all those guys out there that you're having a hard time creating a card for. Kaisercraft's Mister Fox collection is a perfect masculine line of paper. Great colors and the 6 1/2" pad has some fabulous die cuts at the back.
This is a standard A2 size card 5 1/2" x 4 1/4", I love this size it's so great for envelopes and mailing. The sentiment on the front is one of the die cuts from the back of the paper pad, Kaisercraft is so great at always including these.
I used a Sizzix die, the 3D Ribbon for the bow on the front. Don't you just hate it when you forget you have something? That's what I thought when I ran across this bow die. I just love it, it's the perfect size for a card or scrapbook page.
I embossed the inside sentiment with Stampendous Black Detail embossing powder with the Penny Black 'Special Wishes' stamp set. The ribbon is actually a piece of the designer paper cut and run through the slits on each side of the mats.
The video will give you a complete step by step on how to make this card start to finish.
YouTube is such a wonderful pen pal. I remember when I was a young girl, maybe preteen or just barely in my teens and I had a pen pal in Hawaii I still remember her name, Fern Peralta (if you're out there Fern you message me I want to reconnect) and one in Rhodesia Africa. I always felt so bad at loosing touch with them, especially the one from Africa because it was such a time for turmoil and unrest and the family was European and living in a very dangerous place. I don't even think I have the letters anymore but the memories are there deep inside me still.
Anyway I feel sometimes like YouTube is my new pen pal list. Like I've found all these wonderful new friends who share my same crafty likes, obsessions and addictions. One of my new pen pals is a wonderful YouTuber named Eva from Great Britain but originally from the Czech Republic. She has always left such wonderful comments on my videos. About 5 months ago she started posting her own videos and of course I've watched and commented as well and thought what a sweet person. Check her out on YouTube her name online is zebytygl.
About 3 weeks ago Eva posted a video for her first give away, oh my goodness is was full of all these gorgeous laces, some that had been her Grandmothers, such a lovely gift of friendship she was offering up so of course I entered. Today was the drawing, yep you guessed it, I've been doing a Happy Dance for the last half hour. I won!!! Would you like to see what's headed my way? I'll do my own video when it arrives but wanted to share from Eva's side and let you listen to her fantastic accent (I'm sure she thinks I have one as well :-) tell you about all the goodies coming to me.
Please take a moment and check out Eva's YouTube, I hope you'll subscribe to her and make a new friend as well. Isn't this new techno world fantastic? In an instant we can make friendships anywhere in the world. I just love it!
I get the sweetest comments from my YouTube viewers and blog followers. They pump me up and give me so much support. On days when that self doubt creeps in and my mojo flees I'll get a comment or email and the day flips instantly. So it's with big smile and huge thank you's that I share a fellow crafters take on my Triple Flip Mini.
Bobbie Harrison sent me these photos of her mini. She used the Mariposa stack from DCWV and how perfect was that? Talk about a gorgeous mini! Thanks Bonnie for trying out my tutorial and for sharing with me!
Bobbie shared she added an extra section and ended up with four and it worked perfectly. Isn't it amazing how different hands and different paper collections can really change up the look?
Have you tried my Triple Flip Mini or any of my other projects? Do you have YouTube or a blog to share them with us? If you do please send me the link so I can show your talents off here as well, if you don't I'd love to share your creation with my followers. Send your photos to my email - asoulsheartbeat@gmail.com
Thanks everyone for stopping by and most especially to all of you that are trying out my ideas with your own take and talent!
The other day I was sitting here at my desk thinking I really should clean up all these bits and pieces from my last mini, it was made using Graphic 45's Botanical Tea Collection. I didn't have much left, a few scraps of paper and then the odds and ends from the packages of flowers, pendants, banners, chipboard, pockets etc. A little of this and a little of that, but more than I could just chuck and say DONE. Previously I'd made a larger mini and a gift box to house it in, so it's not like I hadn't already gotten a lot from my one 12x12 paper pad, but still there were pieces left!
I took out a stack of white cardstock, I believe it's 110# 8 1/2" x 11" and cut them in half giving me a standard A2 size card base, 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" when scored in the middle. I picked up the first card base and figured I just make a card or two! Thirteen cards later I had depleted all but the smallest smidgens of paper and the majority of the add-on flowers, pendants, pockets etc. I couldn't believe how far those scraps had gotten me.
Now mind you, I left the insides blank and didn't add multiple layers of the decorative paper but I was pretty happen with my baker's dozen of cards. Check out the video below for close ups of each card. I hope this will inspire you make yourself a collection of cards too!
Supplies: In addition to the supplies linked below I also used laces and trims from The Piece by Piece, white cardstock, assorted ribbon, twine, button and flowers from my stash
Hi everyone, I've finished my tutorial series for the Triple Flip Mini. If you'd like to follow along in a step by step process you can find my Playlist here for the 9 videos. I broke the videos down into several short videos to show you not only how to build the base of the mini from paper up, but also how to decorate each page. I hope you'll find the information useful and give you that boost to make your own mini.
Two things, first if you make a mini please let me know I'd love to see, secondly, feedback on how easily you felt the tutorial was to follow would be so appreciated!
I've been bitten again, yes you understand what that means don't you. I've been bitten by the doodling craze and I'm loving it. It's such a relaxing form of creativity. I watched a fellow YouTuber this week incorporate her Zentangles into flowers she had stamped. I didn't have any flowers that would work but I did have a Spellbinders in'spire Cage die that I had so been wanting to play with. I figured it would be just about the right size to try this out. Now mind you my doodles are by no means Zentangle quality, check back later and I might tell you I've grown to a Zentangle presentable doodle. Right now mine are just fun.
I used the die to cut an aperture in the front of my card base. I set the die cut piece to the side and embossed the front of the card with the Sizzix Retro Circles embossing folder. I took the die cut piece and carefully cut away the cage and bird from the bottom of the skirt. I then took some Micron fine tip pens and traced the dress onto white cardstock (I'm using American Crafts white 90#). Once traced I added partition lines to divide the dress into sections which I then filled with my doodles. How fun, no matter if you're an experienced Zentangler or a beginner doodler your dress will look fabulous once you're done!
I share several styles in the video below to give you inspiration on making your own doodled cards. If you have larger stamps with large areas you could use them, or any die that has an area large enough to create several doodled areas. So come join me and I'll share how I created my cards, let you look over my shoulder as I doodle a dress and share a few things I gleaned online this week using my Wink of Stella Glitter pen.
You know the best thing about sharing my projects with all of you is the fantastic support and feedback I get. I had a fellow crafter, Sandy Martin, send me a note saying she was having difficulties with the Distress Doily Card I'd made and could I walk her through how I'd cut it.
Sure enough a short while later this gorgeous card appeared in my email showing me how it had come out. Since Sandy hasn't started a blog yet she gave me permission to share her creation with all of you. Great job Sandy!!
If you have difficulty with any project I've made that you're trying to replicate be sure and shoot me off an email at asoulsheartbeat@gmail.com and see if I can help you out. And if I've inspired you to create something please take a moment to send me a photo so I can share your creation as well.
Well I'm back with another Mother Goose project, this time I stepped a tad outside my box to use some new mediums I hadn't played with before. I had bought this frame, which started out as a unfinished wooden frame, pretty plain and dull and altered it into a cute little Mother Goose accessory to a child's room.
I loved this paper (and it's one of the few full sheets I have left) and thought yellow would be a great color to do all the edges that show. I found some Lemon and Butter Cream Faber-Castell Gelatos and wondered if they'd do the trick.
I covered all the areas I wanted yellow with Liquitex white Gesso, allowed it to dry and then began coloring with the Gelatos. Fun fun fun! I had water near by and dipped my fingertips in it to ease moving the Gelatos around on the wood. I'm amazed at how it colored and how fast it dried. I think I'm hooked, gotta play some more with these!
Once everything was dry I used the Twinkle Twinkle paper to cover the front and solid black cardstock to cover the back applying a heavy layer of Aleene's Collage Podge over the top (I used this to glue the paper to the frame as well.) I fussy cut Mother Goose from the paper, added Collage Podge front and back used Glossy Accents and red Stickles to give her glitz and glam and then used Beacon's Fabri Tac to glue her securely to the frame. The final touch was the handle to her basket which came from a paper bag I'd gotten at the fruit stand. Perfect!
To finish the frame I used a combination of cotton flowers I'd cut from Tim Holtz Alterations Tattered Floral die. Along with those I tucked in bit and pieces of Petaloo flowers, that's those wonderfully lacy pieces you see. A few Kaisercraft Sparklets and it's beginning to take shape. I fussy cut the little Humpty Dumpty, backed him with cardstock, applied a layer of Collage Podge, stuck him to a Tim Holtz memo pin and tucked him in among the flowers. Finished!
So what do you think? Do you like how my frame turned out? If you'd like to see a step by step from unfinished frame to sticking Humpty in the flowers check out my video below. If you're not a blog follower yet I hope you become one today, and if you have a minute leave me a comment and tell me how you're liking my Mother Goose series.
