A Little Bird

a Cut at Home Design Team Project

It's hard having birthdays in December, I know because both mine and my sons are in December but even harder is when it falls on a big day.  My Brother-in-Laws isget left in the dark.  I always try to make a special card for my BIL and this year I think I've found a winner.

Penny Black has this stinkin' cute stamp set called A Little Bird, isn't it just a kick?  I added a few misplaced feathers from the bird and a couple of googly eyes to the kitty.  I think it's so adorable.

You can check out my video for a complete step by step.

and for inspiration a few more paper and color changes

Happy Mail from Ang

Last month you might remember I posted a few photos from Ang Ramacher who had made a file folder mini.  I'd helped her a bit get started and then because she doesn't have a web presence yet shared her creations with you here.

Well a few days ago I received the nicest Happy Mail from her!  Thank you Ang, I love it all.

Ang not only sent me this darling mini and card but also a take out box to put it in and then proceeded to ink up the mailing box as well. It was a super mail day! Ang used Prima for the papers and embellishments and crafted the mini from 3 paper sacks, such a cute cute idea!

The card held this little bottle and once uncorked you could just get whiffs of nutmeg and spices filling the air.

In addition, I also received a package of the Celebrate It sacks to make a mini myself! What fun, thank you so much Ang.  I can't wait until we get together for coffee and chat! As luck would have it Ang lives in Washington State, not far from my family and another online crafter, so the dates been made, when I go home to visit time's set aside for a get together amongst new friends!

Check out my video reveal if you'd like to see the card, mini and boxes more closely!

Holiday LIghts

a Cut at Home Design Team Project

I'm always on the lookout for Christmas dies and stamps I can add to my collection.  Even though you only use them once a year it's so nice to have a variety on hand.  When I saw this die set from Cottage Cutz called Holiday Lights I knew I wanted to add it to my Christmas crafty supplies.

Today's video will feature the whole process start to finish along with a few goobers and the steps I took to fix them all.  A normal thing in my craft room, making mistakes and then figuring out how to work around them!  I think most of us that craft do that very thing.

I used one front panel piece on my A2 card base (4 1/4" x 5 1/2").  This is from an older collection of Heartfelt Creations called Frosty Blanket but most collections have a focal panel either in the form of cut aparts or an element on a single paper sheet than can be used in much the same way as I've done here today.

The Holiday Lights and the little birds nestled perfectly over the top of my door and once you added the glitter snow it made it all work together beautifully.

I hope you'll join me on the video as I show you the whole process, warts and all.  I'll also include a slick trick on how I got the glitter on the script sentiment for the inside and how I get it to stay!

a French Garden Mini Album

a Meg's Garden Design Team Project

Meg's Garden offers many exclusive collections for the crafting enthusiast.  The French Garden Collection is one of Meg's newest lines designed by the ever talented Denise Boddey.

Seldom do I use white as the base of my albums but the beautiful color combinations of greens and pinks just lent this collection to the softness of white.

Keeping to the softness of the papers I used white for all the side mats and accented the outside with fabric butterflies on the spine.  The flower adornment on the front is a combination of gorgeousness from Meg's Garden resting on a machine stitched piece gifted to me from Bunny Bow.  I left the rest plain, how do you cover up such fabulous papers?

This mini consists of six double spread pages (14 sides in all counting the inside front and back cover).  Accenting with a hint of black here and there just pops the colors on the pages.  Several times I outlined the details on a portion of the page, as around the birdcage above, to create a pocket.  If you decide to do this it's always a good idea to reinforce the fussy cut edge with a layer or two of mod podge on the back.  This really helps with the stability as you slip items in and out of the pockets.

By adding a waterfall of twelve pages I've created a spot to house 24 photos just a tad smaller than the standard 4" x 6".  I hope you'll join me on the video as I walk you through each page and hopefully give you some inspiration and ideas to make your own French Country mini album.

Oh and one last thing, this collection can be purchased in printed 12" square sheets with the added 4" x 12" strip or a journal kit.  You can also purchase the journal kit in digital form.

Painted Lady Victorian House Christmas Cards

a Cut at Home Design Team Project

I had so much fun creating these Christmas cards for my Cut at Home project this week.  I used a brand new die from Spellbinders Shapeabilities collection called Painted Lady.  It's a Victorian House that I can see making it's way back for birthdays, weddings, housewarmings any special occasion that you want a 'wow' card for.

I chose to make three cards using this die to give you multiple ideas on how to use it.  Cut from pink cardstock the die is the perfect accompaniment to the Kraft card base.

The poinsettia is cut from Tim Holtz Alterations Tattered Poinsettia die, another of my favorites and a perfect one to add to that flower stash of dies.  You can use this die year round by tweeking the petals just a tad.  I also added Aleene's Glitter Snow to the house and ground, I really like how wintery  this stuff makes your card look.

There are two more cards on the video, a how to and of course many more photos.  So come join me and take a look.
